Newcastle Bars and Restaurant's opening on April 12th

1. The Stack

A popular location in the centre of the city, Stack Newcastle is an innovative social hub comprised of multiple eateries, bars and shops.

Food includes Acropolis Greek food, Boojie Burger, Eatli selling fresh pizza, Sushi Me Rollin, Texas Smoker and Parmogeddon selling Teesside’s famous parmo’s.


Customers can meet at Stack in a group of up to 6 people from different households, or two households forming a group of 10. Stack will be open 10am‑12 midnight every day!

2. The Tyne Bar, Ouseburn

The Tyne Bar is THE place to be for great beer, food and music. Situated at the end of the quayside it’s a great meeting spot at the end of a quayside stroll or whilst exploring Ouseburn.


Their free food Tuesdays (when you spend £5 on drink) is very popular with students. The purpose built outside stage is always buzzing with local live bands getting the beer garden rocking.


Note: The Tyne Bar does not accept bookings, so you’ll have to try your luck to get a table!

3. Tiger Hornsby, Quayside

Elegant and quirky, Tiger Hornsby is considered one of Newcastle’s best cocktail bars. Situated on the iconic quayside, sipping a cocktail and admiring the views of Newcastle’s famous bridges is where you’ll want to be come April.


The menu consists of classic cocktails as well as innovative and creative drinks. The menu is updated regularly so there is always something new for you to try! Every day until 7pm they have a £5 cocktail hour!

4. Horticulture, Market Lane

Horticulture’s vibrant, bohemian atmosphere is encapsulating and their menu is unlike any restaurant I’ve seen before. Their ethos lies within creating forward thinking dishes using fresh, organic, and locally sourced produce.


They are offering tables on the terrace in April, serving cocktails and brunch bites. Full restaurant is open for reservations from May 17th.

5. Kiln, Ouseburn

Kiln’s friendly mix of café, bar, and pottery studio set inside a former brick industrial premises is unusual yet comforting.


Kiln's side kiosk serving hot drinks and sweet bakes has been a lifesaver whilst Kiln has been closed, but I’m pleased to announce that they have been bringing together an outside space, ready to open in April.

6. Brinkburn St Brewery, Ouseburn

I have to say that Brinkburn is one of my favourite eating and drinking locations in Newcastle. Set in Ouseburn, right next to the Kiln, they offer incredible burgers, pizza’s, and a fantastic selection of beers, local and international.


Whilst they have stayed open throughout lockdown, offering takeaway food and takeaway drink in these now instantly recognisable milk cartons, they are opening fully with an outside space in April.

7. Market Shaker, Cloth Market

Another popular student bar, market shaker is renowned for their intoxicating trebs and spacious dance floor 🕺🏼


However they are also home to a beautiful outside seating area, with fire pits, canopies and string lights. The flamingo adorned beer garden was designed by street artist Frankie Strand so if insta‑worthy décor is your game, market shaker is for you!

8. Beach Box, Jesmond

An urban oasis situated on the fringe of Newcastle’s city centre, Jesmond beach box is a popular location due to it’s fun atmosphere, covered drinking areas and pub games!


Many street food vendors set up camp at beach box so you can expect to find something to nibble on whilst sipping away at this makeshift beach. They are currently taking reservations for tables up to 6.

9. Barluga, Grey Street

Barluga Newcastle is a place where you can indulge yourself and entertain your friends, offering a gastro‑pub style menu of comfort food, and an a la carte menu of delicious modern British cuisine. They are taking bookings for their gorgeous outside terrace from April 12th onwards.

10. Aveika, Sandhill

Aveika is a contemporary Japanese restaurant, sushi bar and late bar, offering traditional Asian dining reworked with a modern, creative twist. Live DJ’s play a mixture of house and popular music until the early hours 7 days a week.


Aveika will be opening their courtyard garden for drinking and dining in April. It is fully heated with a retractable roof, making it the perfect space for partying the night away!

11. The Hudson, Neville Street

The Hudson is an elegant all‑day eatery offering delicious dishes, small plates, and cocktails. This spot is the perfect place to eat, drink and socialise, whether it be for a special occasion or a regular meal out.


They are opening their pavement café on Monday April 12th where you can indulge in their famous cocktails or delicious food menu.

12. Livello, Dean Street

Voted Newcastle’s best nightclub and bar, Livello on Dean Street will be opening their courtyard for partying the night away in April!

13. Kafeneon, Bigg Market

Kafeneon, Newcastle’s famous Greek restaurant will be opening for outside seating soon. Situated on Bigg Market, this whitewashed, tarverna‑like restaurant serves up some delicious traditional Greek dishes such as spanokopita, gyros, souvlaki and moussaka.

14. Dabbawal, Jesmond

Dabbawal are the original Indian street food pioneers of Newcastle.


Found in both the city centre and Jesmond, their Jesmond restaurant will be opening it’s beautiful outside space for you to soak up some rays and enjoy their mouth watering delicious food!

15. The Purple Peacock, 55 degrees roundabout

The Purple Peacock is located on the 55 degrees roundabout and offers exquisite Asian dining and gorgeous interior design.


They will be opening for outdoor drinking and dining next month. Due to high demand, Saturday bookings will need a deposit of £10 per head in order to secure the booking.

16. Ernest, Ouseburn

Nestled in Newcastle’s bustling Ouseburn, Ernest is famous for their delicious brunches and hash bowls.


Whilst their newest venture Ernie Ouseburn has been open serving delicious lunches and an impressive range of local produce through lockdown, I cannot wait for their full restaurant to open for guests next month!

17. The Woodmans Arms, Whickham

Situated a little further afield in Whickham, Gateshead, The Woodmans Arms are well known for their indulgent pub food and comforting Sunday dinners.


They will be opening for outdoor service on April 12th, click and collect is still available every weekend up until opening.

19. Scream For Pizza, Sandyford

Known to be one of the best pizzeria’s in Newcastle, scream for pizza in Sandyford will be opening their outside seating next month so we can enjoy some slices whilst soaking up the rays.


Note: they do not have a confirmed date for opening, just that they will be open by the 18th of April (that weekend)

20. Soho Rooms, Mosley Street

Soho rooms nightclub will be opening next month to invite tables of up to 6, to party in their converted fully undercover lane!
